The European Jazz trail is now well underway. Two weeks ago we visited the Amersfoort Jazz Festival. This week we are at “Duketown Jazz Festival” held in ‘s Hertogenbosch, a city in the Southern province of The Netherlands. Being one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands it was dubbed Duke Town, as it was given city rights by the then Duke of Brabant back in 1185.This Duketown Jazz Festival is taking place this weekend as I write. It is Netherlands biggest free festival. The event is paid for by the city and it features such renoun international artists to name the likes of Marcus Miller, Monty Alexander, Richard Bona, Jan’s Dulfer, Eric Vloeimans, and Benjamin Herman’s, plus others.Unfortunately the weather is not that kind this weekend and being mainly open air, we have to rely on the spirit of the jazz to keep us in a warm groove.
